Magazine Practical Task; EVALUATION
Evaluation
- I think that I have succeeded in creating a new but apt edition of Dazed and confused that conforms to their house style whilst also bringing something new to the table. The cover lines and main flash work extremely well with the brands ethos and the central image combines the pastel-bright colour palette with the young and 'new' house aesthetic, however the lighting could be a bit brighter and more warm toned, and the text could be slightly wider. If I was to redo this, I would perhaps have put more effort into editing the central image to make it seem as professional as possible.
How professional is your work?
- I think that my cover does not look completely unprofessional compared to the original covers, however I do think that by changing the placement of the copy beneath the flash it would look even better.
What is the strongest aspect of your work?
- The title is extremely similar to the actual title and the content of the cover resembles a few covers I based it on. I think the colour schemes, the content and the themes included captured the house style.
What is the weakest aspect of your work?
- I think the composition could use a lot of work, maybe if the cover image was framed better it would look far more conventional.
What would you do differently?
- I would definitely frame my central image better and perhaps work on the lighting of the image to make it seem more professional. I would also pay close attention to what conventions the house style utilise and the conventions of magazines and find the balance since I feel like my cover looks slightly 'messy' compared to the professional covers.
